ALLARM
The Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring (ALLARM), a
project of the Environmental Studies Department at Dickinson
College, partners with Pennsylvania
communities and individuals who are working to protect and restore
watersheds.
Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay
The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay
is a regional nonprofit organization that builds and fosters partnerships to
protect and to restore the Bay and its rivers. The Alliance does not lobby or litigate.
Instead, we do the slow, hard work of bridging dialogue between groups that
don't see eye-to-eye, forming strategies for joint solutions, and building
the capacity of communities for local-level action. The Alliance
often works with community-based watershed groups like SCCA.

American Rivers
is a leading conservation organization standing up for healthy rivers so
communities can thrive. American
Rivers protects and restores America's
rivers for the benefit of people, wildlife, and nature. Their website has a ton of information on
past and current projects they are undertaking as well as current events and
issues associated with rivers conservation.

Watershed Management
A part of the
Department of Environmental Protection the BWM is responsible for protecting
water quality, ensuring public health and safety, and managing water
resources, all on a watershed scale. establishes conservation partnerships
with grants and technical assistance.
Chesapeake
Bay Foundation
The Chesapeake
Bay Foundation is the largest conservation organization dedicated solely to
saving the Chesapeake Bay. The motto,
"Save the Bay" defines the organization's mission and commitment.
Chesapeake Bay National
Treasure Executive Order
This website
deals with President Obama’s May 2009 Executive Order on Chesapeake Bay
Protection and Restoration. The website will serve as the clearinghouse for
all Executive Order information, including news, documents and events from
the various federal agencies working on new approaches to cleaning up the
nation’s largest estuary. The public can also provide feedback on the
website and use online tools to track Executive Order activities.

Cooperative Extension
Information on
upcoming events and training workshops in our area, as well as home to the
Cumberland County Master Gardener Program and informative pages dealing with
conservation, home gardening, native plants, rain barrels, and much more.
DCNR
Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources maintains and preserves natural areas
throughout PA. It works towards establishing community and
conservation partnerships through grants and technical assistance.

Little Juniata River Association
The Little
Juniata River Association is a non-profit organization which seeks to
Monitor, Preserve and Improve the Little Juniata River and it's tributaries
as a cold water resource, now and for generations to come. The group has some similarities to SCCA in
its events such as monitoring and stream clean-up events and is the adjacent
watershed to Shermans Creek.
Pennsylvania Clean Ways
PA CleanWays is a
non-profit organization that helps people who are ready to take action
against illegal dumping and littering in their communities. Their core
programs revolve around cleanups, adoptions and education. There is a Perry County Chapter that is
active in our community.
PA Conservancy
The Western
Pennsylvania Conservancy's Watershed Assistance Program was developed to give
assistance to watershed groups on all the aspects of watershed protection and
restoration.
PennFuture
Website provides information on the political side of
environmental issues – what bills are currently being considered by our
politicians and what issues we need to bring to their attention. PennFuture also helps our community based
groups move through legal processes that sometimes become a part of
protecting our environment.

Campaign for Clean Water
The Pennsylvania
Campaign for Clean Water is a coalition of over 130 environmental,
conservation, sporting, and religious groups fighting to protect Pennsylvania's water
resources. SCCA has signed a petition
and joined their current mission to institute regulations preserving and
re-establishing buffers adjacent to Pennsylvania’s
streams.

Perry County Conservation District
PCCD offer
residents a variety of programs and assistance to encourage wise natural
resource management. Whether you are a farmer, a woodlot owner, a homeowner,
or student you will find something here to assist you in protecting our
natural environment and resources.
Website includes PCCD programs, such as recycling guidelines and drop
off locations, Chesapeake Bay Program, farmland conservation, and much more.
Susquehanna River Basin Commission
SRBC is an
interstate watershed agency which manages water resources of the Susquehanna
basin under comprehensive watershed management and planning principles. Their website has great information
relating to planning, programs, activities as well as information pertaining
to issues within the watershed like flooding, stormwater, rain barrels and
rain gardens, groundwater and wells, and water quality and monitoring. Shermans Creek is a tributary of the Susquehanna River.
Trout
Unlimited
Trout Unlimited
works towards the conservation and enhancement of Pennsylvania's cold water streams and
fisheries, and specifically the wild trout resources . They restore
streams through habitat improvement projects, conduct seminars on water
quality and fisheries management and work to educate the next generation
about the importance of clean water and wild trout. The Cumberland Valley Chapter of Trout
